My media course put me in a group with three Korean students for a project on streaming platforms. The brief said the presentation could be in either language. We ended up using both, badly, and then well.

How we split it

They drafted the analysis in Korean because it was faster, I rewrote the English sections, and we spent two sessions reconciling arguments that had drifted apart in translation. That reconciling was the actual education.

Translating the argument forced us to find out whether we agreed, which we had assumed for a week and a half.

We presented last Thursday. It went fine. More to the point, I have three people to sit with in a lecture hall of two hundred, which was not on the syllabus.
