I have a good sense of direction at home and none at all here, and I have stopped treating that as a problem to solve.

The studio is a twenty-minute walk from my flat and I have taken a different route most days. Some have been considerably longer than twenty minutes. One involved a canal I did not know existed.

What being lost is for

Nothing, really, which is the point. The organised parts of this semester are organised well. The unstructured walking is where the city has stopped being a set of destinations and started being a place.

I know four ways to the studio now. Only one of them is efficient and it is the one I take least.
